HOW TO ORDER
Lifescape Portraits pay tribute to those who give your life true meaning. Hand painted heirloom quality family portraits can be treasured for generations to come. An original portrait is not only a celebration of your family but can also be the centerpiece of your home for decades and a visual diary of one's life for generations.
All stages of requesting a portrait can be performed in the comfort and convenience of your home or office. From the no fee initial consultation, the portrait sitting and portrait order to the delivery of your finished portrait. The entire procedure is designed to make the portrait process rewarding and pleasant for my customers.
For over 30 years, I have developed an excellent reputation for client satisfaction. My priority is to ensure your investment in a portrait is simple, convenient, of the highest quality, and most importantly, a perfect match to your individual taste, expectations and budget.
All my work is completely original. These are NOT painted over existing photographic copies, and not transferred photographically on canvas (like many others in the marketplace). They are true pieces of original fine art and are of museum quality.
THE PROCESS
Once the decision has been made to commission a portrait, I will send you a contract which clarifies the terms of the procedure and a rough estimate.
1. First step is to meet and discuss the specifics of your portrait, your interests, priorities, and intent.
2. Next we set up a photo session or review personal provided photographs to confirm there is enough research and visual reference to ensure your satisfaction of the final deliverable. (a photo session is an additional charge). Ideally, I would prefer to do the bulk of each portrait from life, but I understand that many would find this inconvenient.
3. LIFESCAPE (OPTIONAL) Although we will agree on general background and color in the preliminary sketch approval, LIFESCAPE provides you the opportunity to be art director and more presonalize your painting. You can choose any unique backgrounds, environments, setting and any specifics artifacts you would like included. (golf courses, houses, pets, unique sceneries or environments, hobbies, awards, etc). Or, you can simply check off from a provided character/personality attribute profile that provides specific traits of your subject(s) so that I can ensure the individuals personality shines through the final art and is truely unique.
4. After agreement of above, I’ll provide a more formal estimate and a pencil sketch for your approval to proceed. Any minor adjustments or negotiations can then be determined and I can then proceed on the final finished art.
After the final study and estimate is approved, I begin the full sized finished portrait. At that point, I will be able to also estimate the date of completion.
THE DELIVERY
Depending on assignments, a typical individual portrait takes approx. 3 weeks, a large family "oil" "Lifescape" portrait can be completed in about 1-2 months. Water colors, pastels and pencil portraits can be completely in a condensed timeframe depending on active assignments, and by nature are far less expensive. (Prices general range from about $250.00 for a 12" X 14" B&W pencil sketch to $3,000.00 for a 24" X 36" single subject oil). I also provide a CD documenting the entire process at no charge upon delivery of the finished portrait.
Once the painting is completed, it is important that the painting be properly framed. The right frame both enhances and protects the portrait. Although frames are not included, I will be glad to assist you in selecting the best possible. The completed commissioned portrait can then be delivered framed, and ready to be displayed for decades of pleasurable viewing and a cherished artifact for generations to come.
Thank you for your interest in my portraits and I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and your family.
